Overview

Since 1979, LMI/Selcom™ laser and vision sensors have provided the transportation industry with a reliable, safe and efficient way to collect critical information. Automated measurements of road conditions are a cost effective, reliable, accurate and safe method of collecting road conditions data as opposed to manual methods.

The inspection of rail, road and runway surfaces for profile, roughness, rutting, cracks and macro texture grants the ability to predict maintenance requirements, enhance safety, monitor wear, and provides a database for optimizing construction methods.

Expertise

To deal with changing surface conditions of the road, LMI/Selcom™ sensors are equipped with extremely fast, broad dynamic range light control to ensure reliable data independent of the surface characteristics and vehicle speed. The laser sensors used for inspection typically have sealed sensor housings to protect from moisture, large standoffs to clear rough/uneven surfaces and provide wider scanning ranges, and small spot sizes to provide detailed surface information.
